Avondale SquareAvondale Square will provide new residential units in the 600 block of Virginia Avenue, just west of Hagadorn, between Burcham and Snyder and within walking distance of East Lansing public elementary, middle and high schools. The development, which broke ground on November 1, 2007, will include a mix of three and four bedroom townhomes and single family detached homes. The newly renovated block will feature two pocket parks, traditionally designed homes with front porches and unique street and landscaping features. The City of East Lansing is working with Mayberry Homes to design Avondale Square and to provide opportunities for young families to live in East Lansing. West Village The West Village redevelopment project is located at the corner of Grand River Avenue and Hillcrest Avenue, adjacent to Valley Court Park. On the former site of the Greyhound Bus station and two rental properties, the project has received public incentives through the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority to bring housing and retail opportunities to these underutilized properties. The project includes 15 newly built townhome style condominiums along Hillcrest and Grand River Avenues and the conversion of an existing apartment building into 32 newly renovated condominiums. The final component is proposed to be a five-story hotel and restaurant building at the corner of Delta Street and Grand River Avenue. Albert Place CondominiumsAlbert Place Condominiums is a new 36-unit condominium project that began construction on the southeast corner of Albert and Bailey. The development is a result of a public-private partnership between the City of East Lansing and Stonehouse Village III, LLC. Upon its completion in August 2008, this project will include one, two and three bedroom residential condominiums above a two-level, secured, 122-space parking ramp owned and operated by the City of East Lansing. East Village The innovative East Village project includes the redevelopment of 25 acres of land located next to the MSU campus and downtown East Lansing (south of Grand River Avenue, north of Red Cedar River, east of Bogue Street and west of Stoddard Avenue). As a pedestrian-oriented, high-density, mixed-use urban village perfect for young professionals, MSU faculty, students and empty nesters, East Village will include rental and owner-occupied housing, offices, shopping, dining, a movie theater, hotel and convention center in a unique environment enhanced by a six-acre riverfront park and winter garden.
